trading update $$

all quiet at the moment. rewriting some code, trading manually. twitter account disconnected till i can get the something going that broadcasts better. even my manual trading i'll close out everything at once. so, working on it....

and no travels either to report.

trading update $$

i thought i better explain what i'm up to.

this system is returning very good results. bit to good. doubles once a week. on one hand very exciting, on the other hand realisticly at this pace it should be just a question of time before it hits a bad patch and gets margin called. so what to do?

the question i asked myself is whether it will double at least once again? and i think it will. so i've switched it onto a small live account. the idea is to let it double, take the out the start-up cash and from there draw 50% every 400%. So $1k to $2k, draw $1k, then $1k to $4k, draw $2k and then $2k to $8k draw $4k and so on. till it wipes out or doesn't.

this is one of the more exciting things i've done for a while. and this is the system that's broadcasting on twitter at the moment.

ibfx won't let me keep hedges over night, so in slow markets i will take daily losses. when this thing makes money it does it quickly in sharp bursts. does it about once a week.

it's a gamble, but i think that's ok, as long as we know we're rolling dice and not really trading for a long term sustainable system. i just don't want to miss out if it really does work.

$$ trading update

nfp was a complete disaster for us. we went in heavy and got smacked like a farang trying his hand at muay thai. and it's not over, the fall out will continue till wednesday at least.

so before i cry myself to sleep in my beer, what happens in between nfp's?

clearly nfp is having a huge negative impact on the system. half the profit disappeared in two nfp's. the question is - what's my goal? is it to trade fully automated or is it to make money?
if i leave it to run on it's own it'll probably putter along quite nicely, doing about 15% or so a month, if i intervene once a month i think it can do 30%.
i mean, how much of an inconvenience is it really to switch of a computer once a month for 10 minutes?

technical trouble

over and above another blown laptop, it transpires that our code acts differently on different pc's.

on the server it does one trade on a pair till the previous is closed. on my machine, multiples in the same direction. it's like two different EA's, but we can't find the difference.

don't know what causes it. just loooooooooove mt4...

trading update

can't make head or tails of this market, so i switched systems to something intraday. it should be a steady climber, but going to take a while to trade back. in the meantime saudi should be next week. hopefully i can just leave this to do its thing while i'm there.

trading update

we came out of NFP slightly ahead for a change and bounced of the new lows on the equity. quite a few pairs traded lower lots, but we're back to normal for now. i hope that's the end of it now and that we're going to start getting normal ranges...looks a lot better.

trading update

more of the same. draw down now 22.56% we're very close to dropping that trade size. at least july is almost finished. all the pain comes from four pairs. 11 are green, but the lack of volatility in the USD is killing us. last year aug we had big ranges. let's hope we do the same thing this year, really need to pull out of this death spiral.

trading update

another loss day. 5 days in a row. i used to think i have losing days, but not losing weeks. seems i was wrong. usd still directionless and the open runners haven't banked for a week, nor have they moved much, so it's all stagnating a bit. still, the aim of the game is stay in business long enough to get through the tough times, so we're still ok. the 11% or so draw down so far is well within expectations.

trading update

another down day. three in a row. ibfx a bit slow this morning, so I don't have the figures, but i'd say it's about 1.5% or so. exact figure doesn't matter much in the bigger scheme of things. and so we churn some more, still no real direction. just have to keep wading through the churning till we get going. no point in losing patience or trying to change settings.

frustration

i must say i find the forex world really frustrating.

the first problem is of course that brokers make money when you lose. if you don't lose they have back office functions which will make you lose. like changing the volatility of your feed, iow's they put spikes in your feed. they can flag your account - and i quote here from someone with back end experience - "make life difficult" for you.

of course the industry could have been set up to make people succeed, but the kind of mind that exists purely to profit at any cost wouldn't even consider that. its vulgar to say the least.

i have the software to out trade them. took me years to develop. i feel sorry for any house that tries to shake out my trades. they're going to be working real hard to try and throw a system that trades 30 pairs and calculate signals over with 24 hours worth of data. little volatility not going to shake my tree.

what i do find most frustrating is people just don't believe i can do this. whenever i tell people what i do, they either think its illegal, impossible or if i bring up the business side unsellable. i can literally make multi-millionaires, but most people i tell what i do and what my results are give me a string of reasons why what i'm doing everyday is impossible. that despite the fact that i been fighting this thing for five years. almost everyone i know is an expert in forex and investing and know exactly why this can't be done, including the guest house owner i'm staying in, well as soon as i explained to her what forex is. i suddenly understand very clearly why some people become wealthy while others don't.

so stuff it. i'm not begging anyone to get rich, i don't need extra funds. i make money trading forex with a black box and i don't care if you don't believe me. stay poor, find a few more excuses if you need to.

i'll be in the jungle for a while. good luck with that "working for a living, bond slave" thing.
